A la venta ya la laptop Chrombook de Google

Famosa por su motor de búsqueda, Google ya puso a la venta las primeras computadoras portátiles con sistema operativo Chrome, autoría de la compañía.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- El diferenciador entre los sistemas operativos en otras computadoras portátiles y las Chromebooks es que el sistema está diseñado para funcionar completamente en la nube, de manera que todos los datos generados por ésta, suben de manera automática a la red y pueden ser utilizados de manera remota.

Los Chromebooks fueron presentadas durante el conocido ciclo de conferencias de Google, el Google I/O 2011, y ya están disponibles en el mercado estadounidense. Pronto se encontrarán en México y Latinoamérica.

Habrá versiones de Samsung y Acer, su sistema se actualizará de forma automática y el tiempo de encendido será de entre 8 y 10 segundos, debido a que se encontrará conectada con la nube (internet). (FIN)

Quién puede ser ciberperiodista? • Aquel que pueda valorar, jerarquizar y ordenar la información que encuentre en la red.

Definiciones de ciberperiodista • El periodista digital no es sólo el que produce información para emitir en formato digital, también es el que trabaja con medios digitales en la confección de su información.

Definiciones ciberperiodista • Es aquel que utiliza los medios cibernéticos para producir noticias y también el que trabaja en un medio digital • Es aquel que “piensa y vive en digital y además lo siente”.

Definiciones ciberperiodista • Es un ‘híbrido’ que va aprendiendo a la vez que ejerce. • Sus rutinas se inventan cada día a medida que la red madura y con ella todos sus usuarios. • Es un guardia urbano que controla y ordena el tráfico de bits en las autopistas de la información.

La Tour Eiffel fête ses 120 ans

La Tour Eiffel, symbole de Paris et monument payant le plus visité au monde, fête ce mois-ci son 120e anniversaire. Plusieurs manifestations, dont une exposition à l'Hôtel de Ville et un film réalisé par Charles Berling, rendent hommage à l'ingénieur Gustave Eiffel. Par Marie-Hélène Paramelle

Depuis le 7 mai et jusqu'au 29 août, la Mairie de Paris consacre une exposition au père de la fameuse silhouette inscrite dans le ciel parisien.

Baptisée "Gustave Eiffel, magicien de fer", elle évoque la vie et l'oeuvre de cet ingénieur d'exception grâce à de nombreux documents originaux. Une grande partie de l'exposition détaille la genèse du monument historique : intentions concurrentes ou encore idées de transformations.

Surtout, l'exposition nous rappelle que l'ingénieur ne se limita pas aux constructions parisiennes. En témoignent le viaduc de Garabit ou la structure interne de la statue de la Liberté qui trône à New-York.

Une autre partie de la manifestation nous emmène dans l'intimité de l'ingénieur, célèbre et pourtant méconnu.

Découvrir l'homme qui se cache derrière la Tour Eiffel est aussi l'objectif du premier film de Charles Berling, Sur les traces de Gustave Eiffel , disponible en DVD le 20 mai.

L'acteur, qui a réalisé et conçu le film avec sa compagne Virginie Couperie-Eiffel, descendante du bâtisseur, souhaitait allier mémoire familiale et mémoire historique.

S'appuyant sur des témoignages des descendants et sur des archives du Musée d'Orsay, Charles Berling brosse le portrait intime de ce père bourgeois de cinq enfants et infatigable entrepreneur, sans taire les échecs et les succès d'une carrière en dents de scie.

Après s'être refait une beauté en mars dernier, puisqu'elle a été entièrement repeinte, la Tour Eiffel sera pour un moment encore au centre de toutes les attentions.

Le traditionnel feu d'artifice du 14 juillet lui rendra hommage, ainsi qu'à son créateur. Une autre exposition retracera, du 15 mai au 31 décembre, "L'épopée de la Tour Eiffel" au premier étage et dans les escaliers du monument.

Or you could fact-check a newspaper article from the mainstream media and point out factual errors or bias on your blog. NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) Take a look at the search tool for the National Archives "Digital Classroom," for materials that can be used in the classroom. My impression is that this could be a great source for US history and for anthropology courses with its historical stock footage. Search the word "Custer" and see the classroom materials that you pull up. See also their audio-visual page. You can also go to their homepage to start your search. Try searching "Custer Photographs" and check look for "American West Photographs" in your search results.

Temazcal
El Temazcal es un baño indígena con vapor de agua de hierbas aromáticas, originado en las culturas de México y Centroamérica y cuyos vestigios más antiguos se hallan en las zonas arqueológicas de Palenque, Piedras Negras (Guatemala), y en Joya de Cerén (Foto arriba) en El Salvador en habitaciones de los antiguos Mayas.

Su nombre proviene de la lengua náhuatl y significa "casa de vapor"
(Temaz - vapor, calli - casa ).
Esto porque el baño se realiza dentro de unas casetas en forma de cúpula de pequeña dimensión, actualmente llamadas "Toritos", construidas con mantas o pieles sobre varas, en las cuales se introducen piedras porosas previamente calentadas al rojo vivo, sobre las que se vierte una infusión de plantas medicinales.

El vapor es manejado y dirigido por un guía temazcalero, con un ramo frondoso de plantas frescas que abanica, mientras va aplicando masajes, hidroterapia, aromaterapia, cantos, visualizaciones y ejercicios de meditación.

Su uso ha sido tanto terapéutico y relajante como ritual y su práctica sobrevive en la actualidad gracias a la tradición de las distintas comunidades indígenas. Se ha sofisticado su aplicación en la medida que se practica en "Toritos" de cemento o barro y en grupos que buscan experiencias espirituales.

Cerca de lo que hoy es San Francisco California a inicios del siglo XIX, fue documentado por el entonces cónsul de Inglaterra en México un grabado sobre la práctica del baño de vapor por los indios originarios de esa región. Ese baño se realizaba de manera colectiva y tenía un propósito religioso.

Temazcal o Temazcalli
El temazcalli es un baño de vapor ancestral que se realiza en construcciones naturales que representan el vientre de la Madre Tierra.

Su propósito: la confrontación de Tezcatlipoca,
es decir de nuestras partes obscuras para que el espíritu pueda renacer más libre de como entró. Se realiza en cuatro puertas en las que se sanan los cuerpos físico, emocional, mental y espiritual.

El ritual se inicia con el encendido del fuego y se acompaña con música elaborada con instrumentos autóctonos y cantos emanados de la tradición. Acorde al propósito del mismo, el temazcalli “se corre” con 9 piedras, en cada una de las cuatro puertas, si es de sanación y con 13 si se trata de templar el espíritu guerrero.

En él participan: quien cuida el fuego e introduce las piedras, quien las recibe, quien sahúma a los participantes, quien deposita medicina en cada piedra, quien trabaja con los xicahuaxtli para dar acomodo a las piedras en el ombligo del temazcalli y quien corre el ritual a quien se le consagra para, al depositar el agua en las piedras, generar el atlachinolli; la reconciliación de los opuestos representados por la unión del fuego y el agua.

El temazcalli implica —según los ancianos— aprender a trabajar con los espíritus del fuego, el agua, el aire y la tierra y a generar las condiciones para la liberación y transmutación de lo que no sirve. Así se curaba nuestra gente cuando no existían hospitales.
